This was not at all up to the author's skill in her Panther and Tags of Honor books. The two main characters and the supporting characters on Castello's team were pretty well written and I liked the humor but that's about as far as it went. As another reviewer pointed out, it was disjointed and seemed to skip so much and there were multiple editing mistakes which made it not fun to read. Also, a major problem from my point of view was Axel's sister. SPOILER ALERT: If the woman was recruited by a government alphabet agency for seduction, WHY didn't she use birth control? Also, since she was apparently taken to Mexico undercover to seduce someone else, what mother in her right mind would allow her BABY to also be taken into danger and then, while there, she HAD ANOTHER BABY that she put in danger. Again, hadn't she ever heard of BIRTH CONTROL?? Sorry, terrible character! Another problem is that the blurb stated a little cliffhanger but, in reality, there were enough holes to drive a semi through. My advice is, if you liked this book, wait until the others in the series are released and then read them back to back. Maybe it will all make sense then. Personally, I hate serials. Too old fashioned and meant for children. Several reviews mention being unhappy with the abrupt ending or lack of ending for the MCs. I admit to reading the last couple pages twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. But if Annebella continues as she has in the past, we will see plenty of final touches to Axel and Castello's story. And frankly - based on how she has written the entire series, this works.In most series, the MCs find love and then in subsequent books, they are blurbs or cameos within the story. Here all these characters are very active in each book, with the new MC's romance being the reason, but not THE driving factor. There is a huge hint of this continuation when Allie tells Sage they have set him up a work space in their War Room...I always wait very impatiently for the next releases. I pre-order once they are available. And I have read most of these more than once. Often re-reading them each time a new book came out. In this case, I went back to Jason/Felix's story and Zenko/Shaun's novella to 're-introduce' myself to Castello before I started his book. You don’t have to, I’m a bit OCD, but it helps with the comments about Castello’s son Rourke.
